TLC Barefoot School
December 2007

Proverbs 22:6 Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.

TLC opened for another year of training on Sept. 10, 2007. We are blessed with 86 children. As in previous years we were able to take in 12 new 4 & 5 year olds, and what a joy they are. I just know the laughter and little voices lifted in song to Jesus bring a smile to His face. They are eager to learn and we are eager to teach them through a Christian curriculum.

TLC Barefoot School has added a grade each year as the students have advanced.  The TLCBS presently goes through 8th grade.  There has been one student who did 9th and 10th grade work using a home-schooling program under Dottie’s supervision.  She passed the difficult Haitian exam in French and is now attending a good Haitian academy.

We have 16 new batteries to run off of an inverter that converts AC to DC or visa versa. The power is to the school when we do not have EDH (city electric) or if the generator is not running.  We also have a new copy machine and a brand new iron security gate, thanks to ODPC in South Carolina.

PRAISE GOD -  THANKS TO ALL OF YOU!

You might be frowning too; if for two days you had to pose for an extended period of time as someone tried to get a perfect photo. This was actually the second day of attempting the shot even though they are all looking at Mr. Ivens, instead of the camera. We couldn’t put all 85 through another day of sitting. They are all great kids and really do smile most of the day, every day. We try very hard to keep their tummies full, give them good safe water and meet the medical needs as they arise.

As you look at the bright colors of the t-shirts, nice jeans and tennis shoes; they don’t look very poor do they? These are the poorest of the community, the clothes and the shoes are provided by wonderful contributors like you. If you see them at home you may not see a shirt at all and definitely not any shoes. God is blessing them and we give Him all the glory as He moves your heart.

THANK YOU FOR HELPING.  We want to thank the many contributors’ and sponsors that have graciously honored our request to only send monetary gifts for Haiti. This is working out well and we have begun to aid to the economy of Haiti by purchasing gifts for the children here.
